TORONTO — Five things to watch for in the Canadian business world in the coming week:

Economic data

Statistics Canada will release its national balance sheet and financial flow accounts figures, which includes a reading on household debt, for the second quarter on Monday. The agency will also release its monthly survey of manufacturing for July on Wednesday and wholesale trade figures for the month on Friday.

Roots results

Retailer Roots Corp. will report its second-quarter results on Tuesday. The company announced the reintroduction of the Beaver Canoe brand earlier this year to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

BRP results

BRP Inc. to report its second-quarter results on Wednesday and hold a conference call with financial analysts. The Ski-Doo and Sea-Doo maker suffered a cyberattack last month that forced it to halt operations temporarily.

Home sales

The Canadian Real Estate Association is expected to release August sales figures on Thursday. Sales in July were down 5.3 per cent compared with June as the housing market cooled.

Empire results

Empire Co. Ltd. will release its first-quarter results and hold its annual meeting on Thursday. The company became a co-owner of the Scene Plus program operated by Cineplex Inc. and Scotiabank earlier this year.
