Burns Bog Conservation Society president Eliza Olson is among the nominees for L'Oreal Paris’ Women of Worth 2019 award program.

The program “honours extraordinary women who selflessly volunteer their time to serve their communities,” according to the initiative’s website.

Olson, dubbed the “Bog Lady” by some, has been at the helm of the conservation society since the bog group’s formation in 1988.

“Well, I’m rather flattered, and honoured to be a nominee for the Women of Worth award because there are a lot of women who are equally worthy, if not more so,” Olson says in YouTube video posted on the site.

The national honouree will be announced on March 8.
