On Monday morning, IAFF Local 1763 announced their endorsement of Ian Paton in Delta South, while on Friday, they announced their endorsement of Ravi Kahlon in Delta North.

“We support those who support us. Through his time on council and as an MLA, Ian Paton has been a tireless advocate for public safety. We are proud to support his bid for re-election,” said Mike McMillan, IAFF Local 1763 president in a news release.

Paton said he was honoured to receive the endorsement.

“I have so much respect for our hard-working Delta Firefighters, who put their lives on the line to keep our community safe each and every day,” said Paton. “These guys are absolute heroes, and to have their support means the world to me.”

McMillan said Kahlon has also worked closely with the fire department on a number of issues.

“He’s been a strong advocate on issues of concern to firefighters,” said McMillan. “Just as important, Ravi has worked very hard and delivered for the people of North Delta to make our community better. We are proud to support him in his re-election campaign and hope that he continues to serve the community as our representative at the provincial legislature.”
