Const. Ken Usipiuk of the Delta police traffic unit tweeted out just after 7 a.m. about the incident that was just east of the connector.

“Not a great start to the morning commute Hwy 17 W/B east of the connector jackknifed semi-trailer expect lengthy delays waiting for heavy tow to clear the mess,” he said.

He later posted a photo of the written ticket which showed the violations that were issued as well that the driver didn’t complete a pre-trip check. DPD issued more than $1,300 in fines.

“Driver should have actually done a pre-trip this morning,” Usipiuk said. “Traffic is a nightmare.”

It took more than five hours for the scene to be cleared and for traffic to return to normal.
