The fall season for the Delta Photo Club begins on Sept. 11 at the KinVillage Community Centre in Tsawwassen.

Promoting both the art and science of photography, the club has operated since 1970 and welcomes photographers of all skill levels and interests.

The club offers members an opportunity to learn more about their hobby, craft or profession and share their individual photographic knowledge or experiences with other members in an environment that encourages discussion and the exchange of ideas.

Each weekly meeting -- Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m. -- has a different focus, ranging from workshop presentations to print and digital display nights, competition nights, and social, photo-focused outings.

For the first meeting, the club is welcoming Sharon Tenenbaum, international award-winning photographer and instructor. She will discuss her journey of transition from professional engineering to photography and an overview of her work and progress.

Tenenbaum was educated as a civil engineer in Israel and practiced professionally in Vancouver.

In 2007 she made a decision to part from engineering in order to pursue her passion for photography. She started with street photojournalism and her work covers a wide gamut of subject matter from “in the moment” photojournalism to fine art architectural photography, which is a perfect marriage of her engineering and artistic sides.

In a relatively short period, she has managed to define an artistic direction and distinctive style in her work, acquiring international recognition in the process. She has numerous fine art international awards and her work has been published in several magazines, including National Geographic.

Guests are welcome at the workshop.

Social and membership sign-up ($70 for the year) is at 7 p.m. and the workshop runs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
