Despite pleas by provincial government officials to stay close to home on the Victoria Day long weekend, the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal is a busy place this morning.

Many sailings to Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands are either full or close to capacity, although it should be noted the ferry corporation has been running reduced sailings and using only 50 per cent capacity of vessels during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Tsawwassen to Duke Point route is proving the toughest ticket as the 10:15 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. sailings are already full and the 3:15 p.m. sailing is 93 per cent full as of 8:45 a.m.

Sailings to the Gulf Islands are nearing capacity as the 9:56 a.m. is 92 per cent full and the 7:16 p.m. is 84 per cent full.

Sailings to Swartz Bay are more frequent and, as a result, are not as full. The 9:01 a.m. sailing is 79 per cent full as of 8:45 a.m., while the 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. sailings are 75 per cent and 52 per cent full, respectively.
