Fire destroys Tsawwassen house

A vacant home was gutted by a fire Monday evening at 8A Avenue and 53rd Street in Tsawwassen. The call came in shortly before 10 a.m. The vacant home was one that was reportedly to be torn down to make way for a new townhouse complex.

There's no word yet if the fire is deemed suspicious.
Last month, Delta police and Delta fire responded to a suspicious fire in the 900-block of 53A Street. That fire also occurred in an unocccupied house. Emergency crews had responded to a suspicious fire there a few weeks earlier.
