Started on Oct. 17, 1944 by the dedicated wives of soldiers both home and abroad, their main objective was to help and support young men through the Royal Canadian Legion.

As the years have progressed, the Ladies Auxiliary has put on dinners, dances, raffles and more to raise money for many charities, including BC Children’s Hospital, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society, disaster relief through the Red Cross, the George Derby Veterans Centre and Multiple Sclerosis.

Locally, the Ladies Auxiliary is responsible for providing funds to school bursaries for grads, Delta Hospital, Christmas hampers, the Delta Police Pipe Band and other local charities.

The ladies also volunteer their services to the branch when needed. This includes catering all funerals, D-Day and Remembrance Day events.

They also serve three luncheons during the year for veterans at the George Derby Centre.

Fundraising is constant throughout the year, including the popular beef on a bun during May Days, the Western Night dinner and dance at the end of September and a Christmas lunch with Santa in December.

Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month (excluding July and August).
