The city is holding an open house this Wednesday for residents to provide comment on a pair of proposed conceptual designs for roadway improvement for 16th Avenue.

The roadway improvement project is to take place from 56th Street to Beach Grove Road in Tsawwassen.

Design Option A: Multi-Use Pathway (see photo above)

New 4.0m wide multi-use pathway on the north side of 16 Avenue;

On-street parking along the south side of 16 Avenue;

New boulevard and sidewalk along the south side of 16 Avenue;

New LED street lighting; and,

Roadway re-paving.

Design Option B: On-Street Cycle Lanes

New on-street marked cycle lanes;

On-street parking pocket along the south side of 16 Avenue;

New boulevards and sidewalks on both sides of 16 Avenue;

New LED street lighting; and,

Roadway re-paving.

The design is scheduled for completion in 2020 with construction to begin in 2023.

According to the engineering department, an on street parking survey was completed by staff during the daytime and evening hours and found that on-street parking along 16th Avenue is lightly used. As such, removal of on-street parking along the north side of 16th Avenue is being proposed to accommodate cycling.

 This Wednesday’s public information meeting takes place at the Beach Gove Elementary gym (5955 17A Ave.) from 6 to 8 p.m.
