Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Delta council gave the green light to Delta’s parks, recreation & culture department to begin public consultation for the project at the park located between 4th Ave. and Milson Wynd. The recommended site of the containment area at Pebble Hill Park Reserve was to include on-site amenities to improve the safety and compatibility of uses at this location.

Public consultation for the project was to start in March, but those open house style sessions at the park were cancelled due to the pandemic.

In recent weeks some residents, including one who contacted the Optimist, said there have been numerous incidents with dog owners off leash at the park.

Complaints have also been logged with the City of Delta.

Parks director Ken Kuntz said the new plan for the park has been put on hold by council as they have adjusted and revised this year’s operating budget.

“We now have some staff dedicated to be park ambassadors to assist in behavioral matters and of course bylaw officers are also on patrol,” said Kuntz in an emailed response to the Optimist. “We will be sending the ambassadors to this location in an effort to address these concerns.”
