Council recently gave preliminary approval for a three-unit townhouse complex at the corner of 48th Avenue and 48B Street in Ladner.

The 6,580-square-foot property, which is vacant and flat, is designated Medium Density Residential in the Ladner Area Plan and zoned Apartment Residential.

The site, located within the Ladner Village Development Area but not within the Ladner Heritage Conservation Area, would see a three-unit, three storey complex built with vehicular access for two of the units from 48B Street and the other from Ellis Lane. The units would be up to 1,862 feet in size. The applicant’s application includes not having visitor parking, claiming it would adversely impact the design of the project.

A city staff report notes they have no concern on the requested variance as the proposed development is small.

Residents can comment on the application at a public hearing later this month.
