Last week, the Society posted on its Facebook page that someone has been making the rounds by phone and aggressively trying to get donations.

Ben Lewis this scam has happened in the past and has also targeted other communities.

“They will call and say I’m with the Firefighters Charity and seek donations,” said Lewis. “We do not solicit donations by phone. We do not engage with third parties who solicit over the phone, so if anyone receives a call like that and they are soliciting donations from any firefighters’ charity, just hang up.

“Luckily the lady who did get in touch with us kind of knew that it didn’t sound right and got off the phone, but apparently they were quite aggressive.”

Anyone who has received these calls are asked to contact Delta police.
