I am involved in the consultation process about the replacement of the George Massey Tunnel. Already this seems to be used as some sort of a political campaign grandstanding opportunity.

This will distort a reasoned and objective study of what needs to be planned.

Would it be too much to ask MLA candidates to back off from taking positions so soon on what is a very complex issue? The recent views voiced by Bruce McDonald seem to fall in that category.

One thing all can agree on is the replacement is many years away, for a variety of reasons, technically and financially.

These measures should be studied as part of the current consultation process.
