The past few days in Ontario have been really busy and filled with adventure! But all the fun really started on Canada Day. We spent Canada Day in downtown Ottawa, Canada’s capital city. Where we did everything from eating cheese curds (if a cheese curd “squeeks” it’s good!) to making Lego maple leaves! We even watched performers dancing to “Gangnam Style” on a diving board as tall as a three storey building before they jumped into a tiny pool below. The weather in summertime in Ontario is usually sunny and muggy, but we spent the day trying to avoid downpours from cloud bursts! The best part of the day was watching the perfomances and fireworks. They had set up a HUGE stage in front of the Parliament Buildings for the concert. I sat under a brand new Hudsons Bay Blanket with my brother and my two cousins. There had to have been hundreds upon hundreds of people who showed up for the concert alone! The Snowbirds were even there and surprised us all by flying over the parliament buildings. (The Snow Birds are Canada’s military aerobatics stunt flying pilots). After the concert, we walked to Alexander Bridge to watch fireworks. They were astounding. We were so close that the ashes rained down on us (some fell in my eyes)! By the time we decide to head for home it was almost midnight, but that didn’t stop anyone who was anyone from belting out the national anthem. Talk about Country Pride!
