South Delta is just too small to get benefits of a bus system or, for that matter, an overhead subway.

There are people who can't afford to take a car to work, but there just aren't enough of those people to make the buses profitable, except during the morning and afternoon rush hours.

I used to deliver the Optimist early in the morning and the buses would be empty until around 6:30 or 7 a.m. They would get busy for a couple hours and then the buses would be empty travelling back and forth to Richmond or Vancouver.

It's the same for local buses that travel around our area, which have very few people on them most of the time. I wonder what it costs to run a bus nearly empty for most of the day.
