For several months now, a group of dedicated volunteers representing Delta businesses and organizations have been meeting to address how tourism to the area can be improved.
Tourism can be more than just providing information about how to get somewhere in Delta.
At the heart is a desire to not only attract visitors, but encourage them to indulge in our great restaurants, boutique stores and other services. In other words, it's about the potential for economic gains visitors bring.
The initiative comes from interested businesses who last year contacted Coast Mountain Tourism for help.
With several meetings and workshops behind them, discussions continue. They are well on their way.
I salute the efforts of this ad hoc committee. They believe there is much to gain by a dedicated marketing campaign of some kind.
I would not underestimate them.
