There’s a concern over T2 generating more truck trips through Delta.

Editor: It was encouraging to view the Nov. 25 meeting of Delta council to hear the support from staff and council for a full panel assessment of the Terminal 2 project. The provisions of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act have been modified and relaxed by Ottawa recently, so that it still remains in doubt whether such an assessment will actually occur.

The list of concerns posed by council and staff included the amount of truck traffic that will accompany T2.

One councillor spoke at length on the problems of pollution, mentioning specifically the diesel particulate dangers to health. It was this same person who is on record to deny there would be any effect on health from the 120,000 diesel truck journeys through the centre of Tsawwassen if the Southlands plan comes to fruition.

He has either changed his source of information and consequently his attitude, or is practicing a peculiar type of double standard.

Of course, it may all depend on what he wants to happen.
