Re: Reminder issued after child struck in crosswalk, letter to the editor, Oct. 31

Greg Zyp has rightly informed drivers and pedestrians of their responsibilities at crosswalks but from his letter it appears his child was riding a bicycle in the crosswalk, something that is both illegal and foolish.

Cyclists have the same rights and duties as drivers of vehicles - and this clearly does not allow for riding on pedestrian crossings.

They must dismount and walk the cycle across these crossings.

It is fortunate this child was uninjured and perhaps now would be a good time for Zyp to educate his child on both the wisdom of, and the responsibility to adhere to, these laws.
