Re: November is creating little buzz, Murphy's Law, Sept. 3

I read Ted Murphy's editorial with some dismay. The lack of interest on the part of the electorate is always a factor in elections of any kind and I must admit to having been as guilty as anyone in that respect in the past.

However, the recent controversy over a proposed development in Ladner rekindled my interest in the community that I have largely taken for granted in the years I have lived in Delta.

As a Ladner resident, I was shocked and horrified at the blatant disregard for the Ladner Area Plan by a developer who proposed a five-storey apartment block in a zone where only three storeys are allowed.

That the developer has recognized the vociferous opposition to the project by

tempering his proposal to fit within the guidelines is a tribute, not only to him, but to the residents who let their voices be heard.

With less than 10 weeks to the municipal election, it is time for residents to examine the record and potential of all the candidates and decide who will be their representatives.

It matters not who they vote for, as long as they get out there and vote.
