Do you have a passion for food and want to write about it?

The Optimist is looking for a volunteer to become a food writer for the paper.

We are looking for someone who would be interested in writing about specific dishes that they love from our food scene here in Delta.

So, the writer would pick one to three items from one to three different restaurants to review every week.

An example might be dueling cheeseburgers and comparing a few of them with the writer exploring the positive attributes of each dish and picking their favourite.

Photos would need to be included of all the dishes at each restaurant.

The writer would be compensated for the cost of the food and as well, the Optimist would promote their social media channels in the column.

The column would run online on the Optimist website and appear in print when space allows.

If this sounds like your jam, email Optimist editor Ian Jacques: [email protected] with a few details on why we should pick you to be our food blogger.

Congrats to our grads

It is an exciting time for the graduating class of 2024.

On Friday, Delta Secondary will honour its Grade 12 with their annual grad walk, followed by their dinner and dance, while on Friday, June 7, the grads from South Delta Secondary will be honoured with their grad walk and grad evening festivities.

We wish the grad classes from both DSS and SDSS all the best and offer our congratulations on this milestone moment for not only yourself, but your parents, extended family, and friends. Also, a shoutout to all the teachers, administrators and support staff that have helped shape these young leaders and encouraged and supported them on their journey.

Look for photos on our website from both grad walks and a selection of photos in the June 13th print edition.
