Hands On History
During the morning of this popular hands-on history program, the children will travel back in time to experience what life was like at the turn of the last century by making their own butter, using a washboard and laundry mangle and experiencing a pioneer classroom.
The afternoon program will start with a walking tour of Ladner Village and children will learn about life in early Ladner and how the community has changed. Back at the museum, there will be a chance to build a giant map; learn Morse code and use a telegraph; and explore museum exhibits.
Registration required: Available Tuesday & Thursday 10am-11:30am & 12:30pm-2pm. Cost: $15 for half-day program or $25 for full day; for ages 6 and up
Mystery in the Museum: The Case of the Stolen Jewellery
It is the spring of 1910, and the community of Ladner’s Landing is shocked to hear that Mrs. Roberts fine emerald necklace has been stolen. Jack Smith, a farmhand of the Roberts, is promptly arrested for the crime. However, as he waits at the Ladner jail to be transferred to New Westminster for his trial, Smith insists that he is innocent. As lead detective of the investigation, you will have to figure out who really did it. Was it the Cook? The Maid? Hidden within the exhibits are clues that will help you unravel the mystery of the robbery.
