Re: Maintaining our quality of life more complex than it seems, Community Comment, Dec. 9
Mike Schneider contends that we "hear a lot about retail sales and quarterly numbers from manufacturers at this time of year." Perhaps we do, but what we do not hear much of is the reason for Christmas, which is contained in the first six letters of Christmas.
Retail sales and quarterly numbers go on daily but only once per year do we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Christ promised in the Old Testament. The life of Jesus, the Christ, is an easy read in the Christian New Testament.
Perhaps Schneider and his ilk ought to purchase a Bible and read about how this season came to be - retail sales notwithstanding.
