First-time patient impressed by hospital

I have lived in South Delta for 35 years but only recently found myself as a patient in Delta Hospital for the first time. I spent five days in ER as a result of a post-op complication for surgery done at Royal Columbian Hospital.

I have lived in South Delta for 35 years but only recently found myself as a patient in Delta Hospital for the first time. I spent five days in ER as a result of a post-op complication for surgery done at Royal Columbian Hospital.

After basically taking this facility for granted for so long, I can only now appreciate what a blessing it is for all South Delta residents to have this hospital within such easy reach. In addition, the quality of the staff and their dedication to patient care is amazing.

While overhearing most dialogues between staff and patient, I learned there is much repetition in the questions, answers and overall content, yet staff members treats every patient as a unique experience and worthy of personal attention.

They dealt with patients that were abusive, depressed, distraught and sometimes just in fear, and in each case with care and professionalism.

Without this hospital in our back yard we would be dealing with Richmond, New West or Surrey, and possibly not enjoying the level of care afforded here.

To all the ambulance attendants, nurses, doctors, lab technicians and everyone else connected to our hospital, a heartfelt thanks for being here and doing what you do. I hope the rest of the people of South Delta feel the same way.
