Jack up rates for those causing the accidents

Editor: My wife and I own two vehicles plus two motorcycles and a trailer. ICBC got an 11 per cent increase in 2012, 4.9 per cent in 2013 and it is asking for another five per cent for 2014. For our (retired) family, this gets damned expensive.

Furthermore, no business I know of can get away with these kinds of price increases.

We understand that distracted driving is a problem; my wife has been rearended three times and I have been rear-ended once - all by cellphone distracted drivers.

But we are not the problem, so why does ICBC insist on making us pay for it?

By all means jack up the rates, but do it for those drivers who are causing the problem on the roads, not those of us who drive carefully.
