Letters: Another Halloween gone by

The ban on fireworks in Delta doesn't seem to matter
Halloween fireworks
This letter writer says Delta should be getting tougher on its fireworks ban.

Editor:

Halloween is supposed to be fun for young children who like to dress up and collect candies, however older children engage in different questionable activities using Halloween as an excuse for terrible behavior.

On Halloween Monday on our way home from a Beach Grove and Boundary Bay to enjoy the trick-or-treaters, decorated houses and people in costumes, we drove by the high school and the sight was a clip out of a horror show. A huge crowd, police and two to three blocks were engulfed in smoke from fireworks.

In Vancouver such fireworks are forbidden.

There is a ban on fireworks in Delta. The ban does state that you have to take out a permit for $200 in order to permit such fireworks, but that doesn’t seem to matter as I am certain that Vancouver people will take advantage of this and come to Delta.
