Letters: Christmas doesn't always bring out the best in all

For the folks who are kind enough to leave out a gift for these guys next year please give it to them in person

Recently in Tsawwassen hundreds of dollars were stolen from him on one day alone (not the first time this has happened) as an older man was seen stopping along the route in the dark hours of the morning removing these envelopes that the kind people leave for them on the top of their recycling.

My son collects recycling in the Ladner/Tsawwassen/North Delta area.

These guys work their tails off all year round from 35 degrees in the summer heat to -15 in the ice, rain and wind in the winter picking up from over 1,200 houses a day.

Christmas time is a highlight for them as they receive many tips like cash, gift cards, chocolates and beer.

Recently in Tsawwassen hundreds of dollars were stolen from him on one day alone (not the first time this has happened) as an older man was seen stopping along the route in the dark hours of the morning removing these envelopes that the kind people leave for them on the top of their recycling. The workers and the police know who this person is and when approached his reply was, “What’s out on the curb is free for the taking.” One cannot sink much lower than that!
