One need not hold a particular brief for Mayor Harvie to believe that it was selfish and
irresponsible of Delta council to rescind his appointment to the regional Board with the consequence, removal as Metro chair.
The mayor was elected chair of the Regional District by vote of its many area representatives. To de facto overrule them by rescinding his Delta appointment to the regional board, these council members affect the governance of a body that is much bigger than Delta and whose actions affect not only Delta but the entire region.
If councillors disagree with the mayor, they have a more appropriate response.
Simply outvote him at council.
