Letters: OCP timeline is flawed

Let’s uphold our community’s values and ensure voices are heard and recorded
delta houses housing property tax increase
This resident says Delta's OCP review feels very rushed.

Editor:

The rushed four-month timeline for revising Delta’s Official Community Plan (OCP) neglects meaningful community input, jeopardizing the unique identities of North Delta, Ladner, and Tsawwassen.

The Federal Liberal Housing Strategy/BC NDP capacity funding program, is flawed in its density-driven approach, exacerbates the urgency for inclusive planning.

Rushing the OCP risks alienating residents and eroding trusts. Meaningful engagement demands time, resources, and a commitment to hearing diverse perspectives.

The City of Delta will receive $655,377, coupled with its intent to approve significant changes without public input, by limiting input avenues, undermines community vision. This reflects of poor leadership, and an administration that is being controlled by top-down grip on the message and a predetermined result.

Let’s uphold our community’s values and ensure voices are heard and recorded.

Our input is invaluable and worth more than the $6 per person the city is receiving from our tax dollars.
