The Delta Sport Council views the Oct. 20 municipal election as the opportunity to choose between continuing the status quo and new proactive leadership.

Jim Cessford and his Independents Working For You team have published their platform that includes a new way forward in sport excellence for our community that was created after listening to residents at public forums and at the front doors of homes. It can be found at https://independentsworkingforyou.ca.

Cessford has assembled a team of candidates with proven support for youth, sport and recreation in addition to successful experience in stakeholder relations. As police chief, Cessford earned a reputation for building relationships inside Delta and with other communities.

The proposed sport framework will facilitate a review of current government practices like expecting sport groups to fund 50 per cent of capital project improvements, necessitating increased fees, and establishing a Sport & Recreation Strategy through collaboration with community stakeholders rather than by the current top down approach of government administrators.

The Delta Sport Council encourages you to consider supporting the Cessford team of candidates who will build a brighter future for sport, recreation and youth.
