In support of the tunnel

Here we go again.

Ian Paton is spouting his corporate Liberal agenda again.

He says, “Build the bridge.” Did he not read the 'public' report the government did after stopping the construction? I guess not. The report came to the conclusion, considering all the seismic and geotechnical data, that a 'sink in place' tunnel beside the existing tunnel is the 'best' option. Nowhere does it recommend a 10-lane bridge.

If Ian gets his way the bridge will be as high as the Alex Fraser and longer than the Port Mann. We will be able to see it from not only Ladner Town Centre, but Tsawwassen Town Centre. Ladner residents can say goodbye to their wish of an exit to River Road let alone to 17A. They will be forced to exit at the South Fraser Perimeter.

Also, the beautiful new homes along the Millennium Trail will be under the shadow a massive bridge deck. Did they not buy there because of the beautiful and peaceful surroundings? The current government is working on upgrading the tunnel. We can see this with the new paving. Eventually there will be new lighting and paint.

Don't be blinded by the rhetoric of politics. Do your own research. Remind Ian that he is representing his constituents, not the corporate giants who want to feed from the public trough. Ian, read the report. Do the right thing. Support the tunnel.
