Pay for hospital parking before time has expired

Re: Driver gets fine before opportunity to reconcile parking amount, letter to the editor, Jan. 12

I can empathize with the writer of the letter having been in the same situation at the same hospital - and paid dearly for my sins - but the time to "reconcile parking amount" is in advance, not when you belatedly exit, well past the allotted time.

And the hospital staff are certainly not responsible for ensuring that your visit does not exceed the time you have paid for; that is the responsibility of the individual, regardless of the circumstances.

Yes, it would be nice if we could pay upon exiting, as was once the case at Richmond General Hospital, but that business model has been replaced with one which costs Impark less, while garnering more profits for them and the requirement to pay in advance is clearly stated.

You think your visit will be less than 90 minutes, you pay accordingly and then find that your visit will exceed that allotted time? Simple solution: go back to the car before the time has expired and purchase more time.

As I said, I empathize but...
