Some cyclists show no regard for safety

With reference to Greg Edwards’ recent letter regarding the safety of all cyclists, it would be nice if we lived in a perfect world where all drivers are as courteous as he would wish. While I agree that some drivers are not as careful as others, may I point out that not all cyclists are as safety conscious as he appears to be.

I can see several cases where cyclists have displayed a blanket disregards for the rules of the road, such as cycling on the pavement, riding facing traffic, sometimes crossing on a red light and even one instance several weeks ago where the cyclist riding behind me was on my right, crossed over behind me to my left and shot across the woman pushing a stroller with a toddler and another child walking beside her.

People such as this display no regard first for their own safety and secondly for the safety of others. If they have a death wish I would prefer they not include me.

Please don’t tar all drivers with the same brush or cyclists.
