Thank you for deciding to convert the pedestrian signal at 1st and 56th to a proper traffic signal. However, I, as well as others, am flummoxed to read that staff say that they cannot justify this signal by volume alone. Surely staff are aware that many locals take the long way around via English Bluff and other circuitous routes so that they can avoid 1st and 56th, a practice that reduces its "volume."

Will the $150,000 include a right-turn lane for those wanting to turn west onto 1st Avenue? Nexus travelers tend to treat the right lane north of 1st as an extension of the Nexus lane, which blocks right turns from being made. There are similar frustrations expressed by those, usually visitors, who want to turn east of 56th.
