Re: Everyone needs housing, Minister's Minute, July 5
I congratulate Rev. Jim Short for his comments on the need for housing for "everyone" and the loss of our "ability for civil constructive conversation around the common good" as has happened with both the Marina Gardens and Southlands debates.
Short's reference to the Golden Rule and caring for one's neighbours as well as ourselves is spot on. I see it as our social responsibility to care for each other. It also makes you feel good.
There are a couple of issues that keep coming up. Most don't want the increased density and traffic. In terms of Marina Gardens many people seem to be in denial that this density was already approved back in 1996.
We need to move forward without further delay to improving our community overall.
