MLA is a strong voice on agriculture

There will always be farmland without "our" farmers if developers are allowed to buy the land and hold it until such time as they feel the government of the day, whether at the municipal or provincial level, will allow agricultural land to be used for housing, industrial or for making deals.

Agriculture is the backbone of this community and my hope is that all of the agricultural property that now exists, including the Southlands, remains so.

Earthwise Society has shown especially how productive organic farming can be. I was pleased to note that East Ladner's Snow Farms is selling organic plants to the public on May 11 (same day as Earthwise).

I have always wondered where food from the larger farms and greenhouses is sold because there is little in our stores labeled as "grown in Delta."

"grown in Delta." We are fortunate to have had as our MLA an independent who has been able to speak out and work for the preservation of agricultural land. Her voice has been strong on many other issues too, as has been shown in Vicki Huntington's accomplishment lists published in this paper.

I have personally appreciated her assistance and that of her staff in navigating the bureaucracy that exists in Victoria. Although he is running under the Liberal banner, Bruce McDonald keeps saying he will be able to speak independently on issues, while at the same time saying an independent candidate cannot?

I suggest McDonald looks at Sean Holman's new film, Whipped: The Secret World of Party Discipline, which explores how party discipline works and how in the end a party person doesn't really have a voice.

I will vote for a voice in Victoria, a voice that has worked hard to represent this community over the last four years.
