Re: Local campaigns against hate, April 17

As a long-time trawler of Craigslist, I was surprised to hear that it contained a rants and raves section containing hate, racism and other psychologically damaging material. Then again, perhaps that's because I wasn't looking for it.

I share Cran Campbell's concern about our impressionable youth being influenced by this, but I think what they might find on Craigslist pales in comparison to what they see in the current crop of video games - Tour of Duty being the most obvious example, with its unfettered hate, racism and psychotic killing.

"When you see stuff like that, psychologically it may register with somebody and the next thing you know you got bodies in the streets." Your words, Campbell.

As much as Campbell is well intentioned, I think his time would be better invested in making sure our youth are brought up with a moral compass that allows them to bypass all the hate the world has to offer.

A campaign against hate is about as effective as a war on terror.
