I am at a total loss as to the naivety of both sides in the battle to develop, or not, the Southlands.

Monterra, which is a beautiful and appropriate development, and after 18 years or so, still extremely successful. It was approved by everyone then, so why not continue a good thing now?

Sean Hodgins, lighten up on your paranoia to do it all at once. Do a series of small, appealing developments over a period of years that even the skeptics could not get their knickers in a twist over.

It is a fact we need more and diverse housing, but our infrastructure is not prepared for it in one fell swoop.

My main concern is, say in five years time, where will we park at the two major shopping centres in uptown Tsawwassen? Give those areas time to expand whilst the Southlands more slowly and acceptably moves forward.

Hodgins is still a young fellow with lots of other irons in the fire. We know he loves Tsawwassen, but if he could make this thing happen over a 15-or 20year period, I will bet you everyone would be happy, and his dynasty would be indelibly marked.

If this happened, I can envisage it now: 56th Street would become Hodgins Boulevard.
