According to the motion approved by Vancouver’s council, small gasoline engines found in lawn mowers, leaf blowers and other garden equipment pollute at a higher rate than other equipment and vehicles.

The Optimist polled 475 Optimist readers and asked the question: Do you think Metro Vancouver should ban gas powered leaf blowers across the Lower Mainland?

The poll ran from March 1 to 8. Of the 475 votes, we can determine that 187 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

YES 57.22% local, 50.95% total
NO 42.78% local, 49.05% total
  Local   Total

Results are based on an online study of adult Delta Optimist readers that are located in Ladner and or Tsawwassen. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 4.45%, 19 times out of 20.
