Further to Cara Kalf"s letter regarding her missing pussycat, I am updating the saga of my own orange and white cat after she had been attacked by some critter in the neighbourhood. I suspect one aggressor but have no proof to support my suspicions.

She had been missing for a few days and someone was kind enough to take her to Dr. Gemeinhardt at the Tsawwassen Animal Hospital.

I had registered the cat with the animal rescue group which reunited me with my pussycat at a cost of $250 (including emergency service). Added to that were surgery charges to repair the damage done to her so that at the end of it my bill was over $700. As I am a senior on limited income, that was a heavy hit (more than my pension).

As the aggressive cat in the neighbourhood is still present, I made the emotionally difficult decision to surrender my young cat to the vet who will find a good home for this gentle, friendly, affectionate cat, preferably to someone living in an apartment where she can be sheltered safely from predators.

It feels like giving up a member of the family but I did not see a happy result for my cat otherwise.
