Post office flag a disgrace

The purpose of this letter is to point out that I think it's time for Canada Post to change it's name as the old postal station in Ladner proves the word "Canada" really doesn't apply.

This came to light for me when a Facebook friend posted a photo of what is supposed to a Canadian flag in front of the old post office (at Delta Street and 48th Avenue). It is definitely not a Canadian flag, it's a ragged, torn piece of grey and red cloth.

My friend is a true Canadian. He's spent 23 years in the military and spent time in Afghanistan supporting our troops there, including risking his life with those on the front lines. He is proud of our country.

To have him have to see something like this is heartbreaking after all that he and all our brave servicemen have done for us.

This flag has been flopping around this way for a long time. Last time he went into the old postal station and requested the flag be replaced he was told there was nothing they could do about it. He then went to Vicki Huntington who was able to procure two new flags, however no one at the old postal station felt moved to change it.

There it still hangs ....and hangs is the word for it. It certainly isn't flying. If the people who are employed by the Canadian government are not proud to be Canadian then they should at least remove our flag.

This is a particular insult in the year we are proudly celebrating the 50th anniversary of this flag.
