The article states: "The province permitted several demolition landfills to operate in the area beginning in the mid-1980s, despite concerns by Delta the sites were too close to the Fraser River and Burns Bog, both ecologically sensitive areas."

This mess was created by the province riding roughshod over our municipality, as it has done so many times.

In each and every case, the fallout from the provincial government's "profit before people" philosophy has landed squarely on the citizens of Delta while Victoria refuses to recognize our rights or its responsibilities.

It is time for provincial municipalities to rise up en masse and demand their citizens' wants and needs take priority over industrial appeasement.
