I would like to send out a huge thank you to those people who came to my aid after an unfortunate event last Thursday afternoon while heading back into Ladner on Highway 10.

A truck dumped a load of tools onto the highway, and unable to swerve to avoid them, I drove over something and my back tire blew. As I pulled into Harris Nursery to deal with a seriously flat tire, I was immediately approached by a couple that came to my aid.

Richard and his wife got the jack out and started to change my tire. My friend Lori and her boyfriend Dan happened to be heading into Harris, spotted me and offered a hand. Then my husband Jeff showed up.

For the next 15 minutes, we pulled, pushed and kicked that flat tire, but it was not coming off. I placed a call to my mechanic, Bob Williams, who offered his advice, but still the tire was not coming off.

We gave up, called a tow truck, said our thanks and watched some really wonderful people head off for the evening. As we waited in the parking lot, another truck pulled in.

The driver observed the flat tire and offered a hand. After explaining our situation and what efforts had been already made, he was very determined to help.

Out of the back of his truck came a variety of tools, nothing that the average guy would carry around, but all of them needed to get this fused tire off my car and the spare on.

The chances of a superhero showing up just when you need one happened.

I would like to extend my gratitude to those who offered me a hand that evening and to the owner of Harris Nursery who let us hang out in his parking lot after closing.

And a huge thanks goes to my superhero, Andrew Ball. We are still talking about all you did for us. It is appreciated far beyond what the words thank you will ever mean.
