For those who are wrestling with their own decision and could "go either way," as Dan Southard says, give a thought to our local farmers. If you support agriculture in this community, voting to retain the HST is the single most impactful action you can do.

The agriculture sector has worked long and hard to persuade government to abolish the archaic and highly bureaucratic PST exemption list. The introduction of the HST, and now the promise to lower the rate to 10 per cent, is the most significant agricultural policy the provincial government has introduced in decades.

It supports local farmers in their ability to compete, improve their profitability and indeed preserve their very existence.

Give a thought to your local farmer when you fill in your ballot. There is nothing any of us can do about the rains last September or the late spring, but we can all cast a vote to support local agriculture that we all say we cherish.
