Comments made in Wilma Haig's letter require clarification and correction.

Haig wrote that Port Metro Vancouver stated the South Fraser Perimeter Road wouldn't be needed unless the proposed Roberts Bank Terminal 2 project was approved. Port Metro Vancouver has long championed transportation infrastructure projects that ease congestion on Lower Mainland roads and speed up the movement of goods through the Canada's Asia-Pacific Gateway, regardless of the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 project proceeding.

Furthermore, we publicly stated in 2005 that the viability of Terminal 2 depends on improvements to the road and rail network that support Canada's largest port, South Fraser Perimeter Road included.

Haig also wrote that Port Metro Vancouver "removed any mention" of the proposed Roberts Bank Terminal 2 project from the environmental assessment application for the Deltaport third berth project, which was completed in 2010.

In actual fact, the Terminal 2 project and South Fraser Perimeter Road were both considered within the cumulative effects assessment for that project as early as 2005.

I would be happy to direct Haig to the specific pages on our website where she can find the information above.
