What exactly is going on with the South Fraser Perimeter Road?

In the last month there have been no fewer than three container truck rollovers at the same right hand turn to change from Highway 91 connector to Highway 17 eastbound.

Now container trucks are known to rollover due to the varied loads they carry and the fact they can shift, not to mention aggravation by driver error. But to have three rollovers in one place is very unusual in such a short time.

It should be recalled the SFPR was built specifically for trucks and was sold as a safe and well-designed bypass for heavy goods to travel. Recent events call into question this supposed safe design.

The SFPR was also initially to have a full interchange at this intersection but that was dropped to cut costs.

Now it appears we are left with a design that is not very safe and certainly not as safe as it could have been.
