Many thanks to Tsawwassen First Nation for hosting the all-candidates meeting for Delta school board last Monday evening.

Why at TFN? Did you know the Delta school board remains the only local governance which Delta and TFN residents share jurisdiction? This is good news for building new and better relationships between Delta and TFN to benefit local students and our communities, now and in the future.

It is also good news that history was made on Monday when for the first time TFN hosted a local school board candidates meeting. In addition, it may be the first time that an aboriginal candidate, Rhiannon Bennett, is on the ballot for school board.

It was an honour for all who attended, Delta and TFN residents alike.

Thank you to Tsawwassen elder Ruth Adams for her warm welcome and blessing and to the 16 excellent school board candidates who presented their ideas and answered questions posed by the audience.
