Unproven allegations must not keep senior from pool

Is Delta in Canada? If so, then we are "presumed innocent, unless proven guilty?"

In Tom Griffing's case, I don't understand what he is "alleged" to have done.

It started with an allegation that he was under the influence of alcohol while swimming and told to leave. The article does not state that was proven.

Delta does not like anyone, I guess, that does not just agree with its version of the facts, so it suspends him. He serves his suspension and the leisure centre takes his money for his activity until another staff member decides to start the non-issue all over again.

At that time, the Delta police are called and he is given a breathalyzer. For what? What was the reading? Had he been arrested for public intoxication?

So, then Delta gives him an opportunity to say it is right and he is wrong by signing a document that he does not agree with. He puts down that he is signing under duress. Well, that is it, Delta does not have to put up with that, so he's given a lifetime ban.

Even people convicted of murder don't get life.

CAO George Harvie says the safety of his staff and patrons is paramount. Did I miss something? Where was anyone threatened or abused, other than Griffing?

The centre is owned by the citizens of Delta, Griffing included. He has participated at the centre for many years, according to the article, so why does he suffer because of some unproven allegations that apparently have created a major disruption in his life?

I think Delta should show some leadership and not hide behind some rules.

Shame on you, Delta. Ross Cote
