Delta junk removal company celebrates 10 years of helping people regain space

505-Junk thanks community for its support with a special anniversary promotion
505-Junk is here to help.

505-Junk, the local junk removal company, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a special promotion for customers.

For a limited time, the company is waiving its $79 pickup fee for outdoor pickups in Tsawwassen and Ladner and will only charge $0.29/lb for materials located outside. They’re also waiving its minimum weight requirement as long as materials for pick up are in an easily accessible, outdoor space.

“We want to make it accessible and affordable for anyone who wants to get rid of some material,” CEO and co-founder Barry Hartman says.

“This way, you can easily clear out your garage, get rid of the old couch, or clean up that pile of wood that you have been putting off.”

Ten years ago, 505-Junk was launched by business partners Hartman and Scott Foran in the basement of Hartman’s parent’s house in Tsawwassen, B.C.

They bought their first pickup truck, along with a trailer from the side of a road. 505-Junk now has eight custom-built trucks and 30 full-time employees working together to service our community.

“We started in Tsawwassen, that’s where we got our legs as a business. We wouldn’t be where we are without the community supporting us, not just as clients, but also our employees and our families,” Hartman says.

“It feels like it’s been a big collaborative project more so than a business.”

Hartman attributes 505-Junk’s success to the genuine desire to regain space in their homes by removing unwanted clutter.

“Our truck team drivers really enjoy helping people get their space back. They’re like superheroes and everyone leaves with a smile,” Hartman says.

“A lot of people don’t know what to do with their stuff because they paid money for it and even if they don’t want it anymore, they’re afraid that it’s going to end up in the Ladner landfill. But we can make sure that stuff that qualifies can be donated to charity or be recycled. Our clients don’t really want to go through the process of driving to the transfer station, whereas our team gets really excited about it. They’re there to help. They’re trained to help.”
