A Ladner girls soccer team is collecting toys for Deltassist this Saturday at the Holly turf field.
Members of the U11 Blaze will be at the field from 12 to 5 p.m. to collect new, unwrapped toys that will go to less fortunate families through Deltassist's Toy Depot Christmas program.
"Hopefully we can make Christmas extra special for some families that are in need," said Alana Brown, who has a daughter on the team.
The event is called Fill the Goal at Holly, she said, noting the team will decorate one of the nets at the field. Donations of food for the South Delta Food Bank will also be accepted.
Brown said the team is challenging coaches from other local squads to have their players donate a toy at the event.
The Holly turf field is at 4681-62nd St.
