Delta recognizes Earth Day photo contest winners

Exceptional photographers with exceptional photos were recognized this week by the City of Delta. At Monday’s council meeting, Mayor George Harvie announced the winners of the 12th annual Earth Day Photo Contest.

Exceptional photographers with exceptional photos were recognized this week by the City of Delta.

At Monday’s council meeting, Mayor George Harvie announced the winners of the 12th annual Earth Day Photo Contest. The contest called for residents to submit original photographs highlighting the theme Trees in Delta.

More than 100 submissions were received.

“We had some truly inspiring submissions this year showing an amazing array of trees, all seasons and colours along dykes, beaches, forests and farmland,” said Harvie.

The 2020 winners are:

Grand Prize:Carol Pan

Fan Favourite:Anne Andrew

Youth Category:

1st Place- Amice Xu

2nd Place- Brienne Reeve

3rd Place- Brooklynn Richardson

Teen Category:

1st Place- Maryanne Xu

2nd Place- Michael Bak

3rd Place- Col Bak

Adult Category:

1st Place- Tina Doughty

2nd Place- Julia Huth

3rd Place- Rob McLean

The winning entries have been shared on Delta’s website at: www.delta.ca, the City of Delta’s Facebook page and will also be framed and hung throughout city hall in the days to come.

The city will then gift the framed prints to the winners as well, they will receive a certificate of recognition.
